Je suis arrivée enfin! And to my great relief I DO remember how to speak French! Really, the language isn't that difficult, though: just take simple words and make them into fancier words by adding prefixes and suffixes. Word of the day, thanks to some ads in CDG on the way to the border (sorry I don't have a photo but if you google it you get great pictures of plows): déneigement, snow removal.
